PART II - PRODUCT

2.01 MANUFACTURER
Revolving door shall be as indicated on plans, and as manufactured by Horton Automatics, and as supplied by Eastern Door Service, Inc. (800) 390-5521 http://www.EDSDoors.com.

2.02 EQUIPMENT

A. DOOR UNITS
Grand Revolving Door in three or four wing construction with clear core (four wing only) or display core.

B. OPERATOR
The operator shall be supplied complete with 1/4 HP high torque, 90 VDC, UL recognized motor, gear box, and control panel. Control panel shall provide speed control. The double seal, corrosion proof, cast iron gear case shall contain case hardened (60Rc) helical gears in oil bath lubrication. The operator shall allow manual operation 20-30 lbs. (88-132 N) when power is removed to serve as a safety precaution to prevent entrapment. A 2" (51 mm) steel shaft shall serve as a main linkage to connect the operator to the revolving door. The control shall have a display showing door status and maintenance status.

C. AUTOMATIC OPERATION

1. Two microwave Motion Detectors shall be placed at each entrance to the revolving door to detect someone approaching the door. This actuation shall cause the door to accelerate to the rate of 3-4 RPM for one complete turn after the actuating signal is removed, then slow for 1/2 revolution and stop at quarterpoint position.

2. A momentary contact switch with 1" (25 mm) round push button shall be placed at the entrance to the door. The switch mounting plate shall bear the Handicap Logo and read "PUSH BUTTON TO SLOW DOOR". Pushing this button will cause the door to revolve at 2-3 RPM for a selected amount of time. An voice annunciator will say "DOOR IN SLOW SPEED, DO NOT PUSH." After the selectable time-delay expires the door will ramp back up to normal speed and operation.

2.03 SAFETY

A. COLLAPSING MECHANISM
Wings shall be hydraulically cushioned upon collapsing and electronically sense any obstruction that would cause the wing to be moved from its centered position. This sensing causes the door to stop and allow the wing to move or bend with the obstruction and further increase the door's safe operation. After clearing the obstruction, the wing shall return to its normal position and the door will begin to rotate again. Wings can also be held captive around the core for free and clear exit on either side of shaft.

B. BACK PRESSURE SENSING CIRCUIT
Should the door wings encounter an obstacle at any point in rotation that creates a back pressure on the door of 15-25 (66-110 N) pounds (adjustable) the door shall go into the EMERGENCY STOP MODE. The door will stop for four (4) seconds. During this time the door wing can be moved forward or backward. It will then restart at the slow speed and smoothly accelerate to normal run speed or require a manual push to restart (selectable).

C. VISTA STOP ELECTRONIC SENSING SYSTEM
A focused electronic on-door system that slows or stops the door when it detects an object within 8-12" (203 - 305 mm) of the wing, stops the door, and turns on a voice annunciator that says "PLEASE STEP FORWARD." When the object is clear, the door ramps back up to normal speed.

2.04 FINISH
Anodized or Painted Aluminum, Stainless Steel or Bronze Cladding

2.05 ENCLOSURE

A. SEGMENTED
The segmented enclosure shall be constructed of twenty-four (24) flat sections set at proper angle to contour of rotating wings so that proper clearance shall be maintained and weatherseal. assured.

B. ROUND
The round enclosure shall be constructed of eight (8) curved sections.

2.06 DOOR CONSTRUCTION
The 1 3/4" (45 mm) wide Medium stile - 3 3/4" (95 mm) door wings to be constructed of aluminum extrusions of 6063T5 alloy to ensure frame rigidity and high impact resistance. Horizontal rails on door wings shall have sloped stops. An intermediate muntin bar is to be furnished on each wing for safety and division of glass.

2.07 CANOPY
Provide canopy to match contour of enclosure. (Optional round canopy on segmented enclosure). Canopy sides to be furnished in aluminum panel. Provide aluminum clad plywood .060/.75" (1.5/19 mm) for interior ceiling. Optional: Exterior roof fabrication from .125" (3 mm) anodized aluminum.

2.08 HARDWARE/WEATHERSTRIPPING
Provide muntin bar on all wings and five (5) pin locks with manual bolts on two wings and two (2) on the core. A sweep shall be affixed to each wing and centershaft core to provide adequate weatherseal.

2.09 CEILING LIGHTS
Furnish eight ceiling lights with energy efficient lighting systems with flush lens.

2.10 GLASS

A. ROUND DOOR:
Wings: 1/4" (16 mm) tempered
Walls: 7/16" (12 mm) laminated safety glass

B. SEGMENTED DOOR:
Wings: 1/4" (16 mm) tempered
Walls: 1/4" (16 mm) tempered

Segmented wall and door wing system will accommodate up to 1" (25 mm) glazing.

2.11 REQUIREMENTS FOR ELECTRICAL WORK BY OTHERS
The Electrical Contractor shall furnish and install all wiring to operator. Provide 120 VAC, 60 cycle, 1 phase, 15 amp service to each operator (header) on a separate circuit breaker routed into header. Remote switches (if specified) shall be provided with control wire and electrical boxes from switches to operators. Remote switches provided under this section shall be installed by the electrical contractor.

NOTE: Maximum current draw is 5 amps per operator protected by internal circuit breaker in operator.

PART III - EXECUTION

3.01 INSPECTION
Installer must examine the areas and conditions under which automatic doors are to be installed and notify the Contractor in writing of conditions detrimental to the proper and timely completion of work. Do not proceed with the work until all unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected in a manner acceptable to the installer and in accordance with approved shop drawings.

3.02 INSTALLATION
Comply with specifications and recommendations. Set track and operator plumb, level and true to line, without warp or rack of doors. Anchor securely in place. Isolate aluminum and other corrodible materials from sources of electrolytic action at points of contact. Install complete door operator system in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, including drive mechanism, controls, and control switches.

3.03 ADJUST AND CLEAN
Adjust operator and controls for optimum condition and safety. Lubricate operating equipment. Clean surfaces promptly after installation, exercising care to avoid damage of the protective coating (if any). Advise contractor of protective treatment and other precautions required through the remainder of the construction period, to ensure that doors will be without damage or deterioration (other than normal weathering) at the time of acceptance.
