AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS
SERIES 2510 ELEGANT SLIDING DOOR
WITH ALL GLASS DOORS SPECIFICATIONS
PART I - GENERAL
1.01 DESCRIPTION
This section covers the furnishing and installation of a complete
automatic sliding door system. It includes operator, track, doors, and activating devices
all as required for installation as shown and specified. The General Contractor shall
coordinate the work of all trades including the automatic door supplier, hardware
supplier, carpenter, mason, and electrician as so specified.
1.02 RELATED WORK COVERED BY OTHER APPLICABLE SECTIONS OF

1.03 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. ANSI A156.10 STANDARD
Provide automatic entrance doors complying with applicable requirements of Power Operated
Pedestrian Door Standard where applicable to door type.
B. UL 325
Provide powered door operators complying with UL 325, Electrical Door, Drapery,
Gate, Louver, and Window Operators and Systems.
C. MANUFACTURER'S QUALIFICATIONS
Provide units produced by a firm with not less than 5 years successful experience in the
fabrication of automatic doors of the type required for this project.
D. INSTALLER'S QUALIFICATIONS
Engage an installer who has an AAADM certified inspector on staff and is an
authorized representative of the automatic door manufacturer for both the installation and
maintenance of the type of units required for this project.
1.04 SUBMITTALS
A. PRODUCT DATA
Submit manufacturer's product data and standard details for automatic doors,
including fabrication, finishing hardware, operators, accessories, and other components of
the work. Include rough-in diagrams, wiring diagrams, parts lists, and maintenance
instructions, as well as certified test data (where required).
B. TEMPLATES AND DIAGRAMS
Furnish templates, diagrams, and other data to fabricators and installers of
related work, as needed for coordination of automatic entrance installation.
C. SHOP DRAWINGS
Submit shop drawings for the fabrication and installation of automatic entrance
doors and associated components of the work. Indicate anchors, joint system, expansion
provisions, hardware, and other components not included in manufacturer's standard data.
Include glazing details (where required).
1.05 WARRANTY
Units to be warranted against defect in material and workmanship for a period of one year
from the date of installation.
PART II - PRODUCT
2.01 MANUFACTURER
Series 2510 Elegant (tm) automatic sliding door(s) shall be of type(s) and size(s) as
indicated on plans, as manufactured by Horton Automatics, a division of the Overhead Door
Corporation and as supplied by Eastern Door Service, Inc., Florence, NJ (800)
390-5521 http://www.EDSdoors.com.
2.02 EQUIPMENT
A. DOOR UNITS
The Elegant (tm) type 2510 door unit shall include operator, header and track,
jambs, sliding door, and sidelights if required. All structural aluminum sections shall be
6063T-5 anodized aluminum alloy and shall be capable of self support up to a length of
14'. The header shall be 4 1/2" deep by 8" high. The concealed replaceable track
shall be 1/2" wide. Rollers shall be nylon high quality roller ball bearing wheels
3" inches in diameter. Concealed guides shall stabilize bottom of door.
Anti-derailing means shall be provided. Door panel(s) and sidelite(s) shall be 1/2"
thick tempered glass with offset upper and lower extrusions to provide glass
panel/sidelight mounting.
OPTION: Black anodized micro extrusions shall provide mounting for
adjoining vertical weather seal. (Clear plastic extrusions are also available, but are not
recommended.)
In compliance with NFPA 101, emergency egress shall be provided by a
steel breakout assembly mounted in the upper extrusion of each sliding panel to allow
swing out to a full 90í position without sag. Sidelights shall be fixed.
B. FINISH
OPTIONS: All exposed surfaces shall be (Select desired finish)
1) 204-R1 clear anodized aluminum.
2) 313-R1 dark bronze anodized aluminum.
3) Manufacturer's standard two coat Duranar finish. Color to be selected by architect from
manufacturer's standard color chart.
4) Manufacturer's standard three coat Duranar XL finish. Color to be selected by architect
from manufacturer's standard XL color chart.
5) Manufacturer's standard exotic Duranar finish. Color to be selected by architect from
manufacturer's standard exotic color chart.
6) Special color and finish as indicated (optional)
7) Clad with stainless steel or bronze muntz metal
C. UNIT TYPE
OPTIONS: Units shall be type (Select desired series number)
1) Series 2510 Type 010(O-X) The sliding panel shall be installed to inside of
sidelight.
Sliding panel slides along sidelight. (No swing panels in Type 010).
2) Series 2510 Type 110 (O-SX) The swing-slide panel shall be installed to the exterior of
the fixed sidelight. The swing-slide panel(s) (SX) shall swing out 90 degrees from any
position of slide movement, and shall be UL listed as an exitway.
D. HARDWARE
Sliding panel (X or SX) shall have Adams Rite Maximum Security Lock MS1861
31/32" with 1 5/32" standard size cylinder in bottom rail.

E. OPERATOR
Horton 2001 electromechanical belt drive operator, utilizing 1/8 HP DC permanent
magnet motor and high performance transmission shall be header mounted and concealed with
a securely attached, removable cover . A Microprocessor utilizing revolution counting to
sense door position and initiate checking action shall have a time delay adjustable from 1
to 28 seconds. The opening speed, closing speed, back check and latch check shall be fully
and independently adjustable. Braking or checking shall be an integral function of the
operator for deceleration of the moving panel. For protection in case of electrical power
failure, operator shall revert to free manual operation of the door. A power ON and OFF
switch shall be located on the inside of the header and shall serve a second function as
"hold open" for door when in OFF position. The operator's closing speed shall be
field adjustable to not exceed one foot per second closing speed. A clutch shall be
provided to regulate the closing force to a maximum of 30 lbs. as is required by ANSI. The
operator shall include an electronic sensing device that will reverse the door from
closing when a maximum force of 15 lbs. is exerted to prevent the door from closing. The
reverser shall be field adjustable to meet conditions.
2.03 CONTROL SWITCHES
Each sliding door unit shall include two C1185 photoelectric beams (C1304 set)
mounted in the jambs at heights of 24" and 48". Each shall parallel door opening
and serve as a door hold-open when interrupted. Actuation shall include a motion detector
mounted on each side of the door for detection of traffic in each direction.
OPTIONS:
1) Provide BEA Crystal enhanced presence sensing device across the door opening.
Recommended for use at locations where the elderly or infirm may be using the automatic
door.
2) See Architectural Design Manual Section E for mats and push plate switches.
2.04 REQUIREMENTS FOR ELECTRICAL WORK BY OTHERS
The Electrical Contractor shall furnish and install all wiring to operator.
Provide 120 VAC, 60 cycle, 1 phase, 15 amp service to each operator (header) on a separate
circuit breaker routed into header. Remote switches (if specified) shall be provided with
control wire and electrical boxes from switches to operators. Remote switches provided
under this section shall be installed by the electrical contractor.
NOTE: Maximum current draw is 5 amps per operator protected by internal circuit breaker in
operator.
PART III - EXECUTION
3.01 INSPECTION
Installer must examine the areas and conditions under which automatic doors are to be
installed and notify the Contractor in writing of conditions detrimental to the proper and
timely completion of work. Do not proceed with the work until all unsatisfactory
conditions have been corrected in a manner acceptable to the installer and in accordance
with approved shop drawings.
3.02 INSTALLATION
Comply with specifications and recommendations. Set track and operator plumb, level and
true to line, without warp or rack of doors. Anchor securely in place. Isolate aluminum
and other corrodible materials from sources of electrolytic action at points of contact.
Install complete door operator system in accordance with manufacturer's instructions,
including drive mechanism, controls, and control switches.
3.03 ADJUST AND CLEAN
Adjust operator and controls for optimum condition and safety. Lubricate operating
equipment. Clean surfaces promptly after installation, exercising care to avoid damage of
the protective coating (if any). Advise contractor of protective treatment and other
precautions required through the remainder of the construction period, to ensure that
doors will be without damage or deterioration (other than normal weathering) at the time
of acceptance.
